About this tool

Drag a crop box over your photo, or snap it to a ratio — a square for an avatar, 16:9 for a banner, 4:5 for a feed. Type exact numbers when the box has to be exact. The crop is applied by your browser and downloaded straight back to you, at full resolution and with nothing stamped on it.

How to crop an image

Questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. There is no upload step and no server that could receive the file — the tool runs as code in this browser tab, works on the copy your browser opened, and forgets it when you close the tab. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s network panel and run the tool. You will see the page, its scripts and the ads that pay for the site — and no request carrying your file, because there is no endpoint to carry it to.

Does cropping reduce the quality?

No. The crop takes the original pixels inside your box at their full resolution — a crop of a 4000px photo is a genuinely 4000px-detailed piece of that photo, not a resized preview.

What ratio should I use?

1:1 for avatars and most profile pictures, 4:5 for social feeds, 16:9 for banners, video thumbnails and slides, and 3:2 for anything going to print at standard photo sizes.
