Is my photo uploaded?
No. There is no upload step and no server that could receive the file — the tool runs as code in this browser tab, works on the copy your browser opened, and forgets it when you close the tab. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s network panel and run the tool. You will see the page, its scripts and the ads that pay for the site — and no request carrying your file, because there is no endpoint to carry it to.
Can it recover detail that is not there?
No — and neither can anything else, whatever the marketing says. The model has learned what edges and textures usually look like, so it produces a convincing larger image rather than a blurry one. It is plausible detail, not recovered detail; do not treat an upscaled photo as evidence.
Why is it slow on a large image?
The work is happening on your own hardware rather than a rack of GPUs. A small image is quick; a 4000-pixel photo at 4x is a genuinely large amount of computation. Closing other heavy tabs helps.
